KCCK Designs
KCCK Designs was a pseudo-serious (and now defunct) software game company run by myself and a friend, Kenneth Capaul. Our collective initials made up the "KCCK." I haven't done any programming in years, but I've decided to continue to make these games available, for nostalgia's sake, if nothing else.
For the record, these all run in MS-DOS (they're written in Quick Basic 4.5) with the one exception of Ask Mr. Know-it-all Deluxe, which requires Windows version 95 or later. It was written in Visual Basic 5.0.
If you have comments or suggestions concerning my games, I'll be glad to take them. Since I'm not programming anymore, I can't promise results, but go ahead and e-mail them to me.
Here are some of our better (i.e. only) games:

Ask Mr. Know-it-all v2.0 - (39K)
source code - (3K)
There are lots of magic 8-ball programs out there, some with really nice graphics. Although mine is text-based, it has over fifty enlightening answers that will reveal to you the mysteries of the universe. Give it a try! Now with music!

Ask Mr. Know-it-all Deluxe v2.0.2 - (1.97MB)
source code (Visual Basic 5.0) - (856K)
Finally, the long-awaited final (?) release of the 32-bit version of Ask Mr. Know-it-all is here! Complete with smooth graphics, an easy interface, and close to a hundred answers to your most difficult questions, this magic 8-ball spin-off will fulfill all your prognostication needs for years to come! Note that Windows 9x, 2000 or ME is required to run this program.

Castle - (31K)
source code - (3K)
Here's the very first text adventure ever programmed by KCCK Designs. It's very simple and not very impressive, though it may interest other aspiring programmers.

Happy Birthday, Yoshi! v4.0 - (92K)
source code - (30K)
Completely rewritten, now with comprehensive saving features! This is the crowning achievement of my QB programming with respect to text adventures. It has a plot, though I designed it so that you can do just about anything. If something is mentioned, you probably can do something with it. Be creative!

Operation: 1123-theta Virus v3.0 - (81K)
source code - (25K)
Completely revamped and rewritten! It's much like a complex version of Space Station Escape. You have to obtain a sample of the 1123-theta virus and escape from an alien station. The controls are much improved, and it has multiple endings. It also has a secret that's tied in with Happy Birthday, Yoshi!

Shadows: The Quest for Identity v1.2.2beta - (89K)
source code - (51K)
This semi-completed game has been sitting around on my hard drive for quite some time now. I stopped working on it quite literally because Quick Basic wasn't able to handle what I wanted it to do. It's another text adventure, but this time it's a roleplaying game (RPG) with randomized battles, characters that you can interact with, a much more dynamic inventory, and more. Give it a try.

Space Station Escape - (32K)
source code - (4K)
Space Station Escape was written by Kenneth Capaul and was the first decent text adventure that either of us wrote. Pretty good game.

Super Star Trek v2.0 - (49K)
source code - (9K)
It's just an ASCII-based game where you fly around and shoot Romulan warbirds. It may look simple, but it's really quite complex. The controls are a bit difficult to remember, but with practice, you'll like this challenging game.
